Jacob's Hippo Baby Nursery

I have always loved hippos and wanted to share them with my son, so I had the idea to create a hippo baby nursery for him.

We used several different colors of Disney brand paint to complete the room. The walls were all hand painted by my mother and I. We copied the pattern free hand from a switch plate we had made by someone at our local flea market.

We bought a Caydance crib from Walmart. The rest of the furniture is from IKEA including the shelves.

We happened to run across the hippo bedding at Walmart and it matched the room perfectly.

The curtains are plain brown with a sheer unlay. The lighting is two hippo lamps that were purchased at IKEA. To hide the cords we bought some ivy garland from hobby lobby to wrap around them. The lamps are on a dimmer switch for the perfect ambience.

It took us about two days to paint and about two more weeks to complete everything else. It was pretty easy because it was all freehand. I loved spending time with my mom and just being creative.

I love everything about Jacob's Hippo Nursery. It is so peaceful and colorful. I love walking in and seeing all my hard work and creativeness everywhere.
