I found this amazing crib bedding set and the rest of the Modern Owl Theme Nursery branched out from there.
The bedding is called Litto Kids Silly Owl Crib Set and I found it at ModernNursery.com. I handmade the mobile to match the owls on the bedding.
For the walls, I mixed my own paint with several different brands and colors to achieve a gray color that I was happy with. Grays are so sensitive and can quickly take on a blue or green undertone depending on the lighting.
I bought the crib and changing table from Target.com's Dwell Studio collection. The rocker is from Walmart.com. The storage ottoman and the wicker hamper are both from Burlington Coat Factory.
I found the lamp at Target, and painted the paper lantern orange to match the rest of the room. On each side of the window are two 4ft shadow boxes that I built. In each is a canvas that I painted orange. Suspended from the top of each shadow box are maternity photos that I had taken and printed on sheets of aluminum.
Above the crib are three gallery frames from West Elm, one of my husband's face as a baby, one of mine, and the middle is empty for now, as we await the arrival of Walker.
On the wall opposite the crib are a series of 9 shadow box frames each containing some of my old baby clothes. The shelves are from Target.
I tried to think outside of the box for nursery storage and bought a canvas shoe rack that hangs on the back side of the bedroom door. In it I store everything from bibs, to burp cloths, to lotions etc. Also, I bought canvas bins and labeled them in the closet for things like toys, puzzles, sports stuff. etc.
I have worked on the nursery since month 3. It was so much fun - and was great to start early so that I was able to do so much of it myself! I had help from my sister who painted the amazing painting that mimics the pattern on the bedding. My father put up the crown molding to finish off the room.
I love everything about our Modern Owl Theme Nursery! I am so pleased with how it all came together so beautifully!
