Monkey Safari Nursery Theme

Our nursery was inspired by my love for monkeys. We had the idea before knowing what the gender of our baby was and knew a monkey theme could work for either a boy or a girl.

We wanted to go with a neutral paint color and add a splash of pink for a little girl's room. We painted the nursery before knowing the gender and added the finishing touches after. The paint we used were Sherwin Williams brand.

My husband is very artistic and drew all the designs, the giraffe, monkey, and whimsical tree. We looked on-line for ideas and then he drew them free hand. Although I am not very artistic, he let me help as well.

The brand of crib we went with is by Pali and called the Torino in a Moccachino finish. This was purchased from Baby Time Furniture which sells quality, wood furniture at a reasonable price. Both the crib and changing table are from there.

We went with the Cocalo Jacana nursery bedding.

We purchased a bookshelf to store all of our baby's books and toys in totes.

The project took my husband about one month to complete. He spent several hours a day painting the nursery and designing the nursery was a work in progress. The rocking chair was passed down from my mom so it added that special touch. Our favorite part of designing the nursery was doing it on our own and making it original.

My favorite part of the nursery is the painted walls.
