My Princess Pink Baby Palace

by Natalie
(usa)

When I found out I was having a baby girl, my mind immediately went to the color pink. It is the obvious choice. I wanted to a do a soft, muted pink, and ended up using "Cheery", a low VOC paint from Sherwin-Williams.

I was very happy with the way it turned out. The carpet and moldings in the room were white and I like the pink & white combo so I also got white accessories. I got a white crib and changing table.

I wanted to do something else on the walls, but opted for a fleur-de-lis stencil in silver, along the tops of the walls. This was not overbearing but a nice detail that I ended up loving!

For the crib bedding I stuck with a flower/garden theme since a fleur-de-lis is a lily in French. We got tulip bedding that matched the walls and had white and pink accents.

The curtains also matched the bedding. I did get a contrasting bed sheet which looked great.

For other pieces of wall art, I wanted something educational and found a great alphabet painting at Target. My daughter LOVES looking at it, I placed it directly above the changing table. I also had a friend give me a hand painted "initial" which is all the craze in nurseries these days!

When designing your baby's nursery, let me give you some advice. Make it fun and whimsical, you want this to be a place your baby can enjoy for years to come.

Design a nursery that will let your child grow with the colors and theme. Make sure you pick maybe 3 colors and stick with those, it will be easier to coordinate.

Lastly, be practical. I once saw a nursery so beautiful, designed with the colors of Tiffany's and with glass and lace. It was gorgeous but not practical! The nursery should be your baby's oasis! here are some photos Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
